Crafted Hospitality + Residential Projects Around the World
It’s not easy to slow down. We design spaces where people take their time.
About our Team
Architect & Design Director
Mark Bellingan
After nearly a decade at several award-winning practices, architect Mark Bellingan founded Common Architecture in 2014. Since then, the studio has worked across a range of building types — always with an emphasis on design that responds to its context.
Mark brings a strong understanding of the construction process, allowing each project to explore materiality, sustainability, and affordability in practical terms. His approach centres on clarity, restraint, and close collaboration with clients.
Architect & Interior Designer
Leigh Bellingan
Since joining her brother Mark at Common Architecture, Leigh has played a key role in shaping projects that reflect a shared commitment to context, collaboration, and craft.
Leigh leads the interior design work at Common Architecture, where she brings a refined eye for materiality, atmosphere, and spatial rhythm. Trained as both an architect and interior designer, her approach bridges the conceptual and the tactile — ensuring that interiors are not separate from the building, but integral to it.
We work on hotel and residential projects — architecture, interiors, and masterplanning — across the world. We take time with our clients, their brands, and local architects to find solutions that tell a story and invite people to slow down.
About our Process
Every project begins with a question, a need, or an idea. We start by listening — to the client and to the place.
Then we test possibilities against what matters: how it will be used, what the site allows, and what the budget requires.
We work with what already exists; the brief, the context, the constraints, to find what fits. Drawing on tradition and typology, we favour the familiar over the fashionable.
Design is a shared process.
We bring structure and clarity; but the project is always yours.
This selection of current or ongoing projects and ideas is an invitation to play a little. Feel free to move the images around, take some time to explore and dream a little.
